Tractors are a sourcing job for us: we do not sell the machine from stock — we find the model the buyer describes through our manufacturer network in Iran and set up the shipment. On this route the manufacturer connection is in place, discussions with the buyer side are ongoing, and the FOB price and letter-of-credit arrangement have been worked out. We work FOB with a letter of credit: payment moves through the bank against documents — the arrangement that limits the risk for both parties meeting for the first time, and the one buyers in Sudan and the wider Middle East–Africa region are used to. The machine under discussion is fully specified: ITMCO 285 2WD — 4-cylinder 3.99 litre diesel, 75 HP, 8 forward and 2 reverse gears, 540 rpm PTO, 2,812 kg. The buyer asks about price and lead time first, then spare parts and service; both can be brought into the scope of supply and are settled at the quotation stage.
